Ceredigion Scouts have been successful in obtaining an Awards for All Wales Grant for £1751 to help fund publicity materials. They now have: display boards, pop-up banners, outdoor banner and a small marquee with a trailer to transport it. This now makes it much easier for Scouts to go around local events and put up a stand or display.
The materials were all on display at the Bandstand in Aberystwyth and Mark Williams MP attended to present Jim Hopkins, Area Commissioner for Ceredigion with the cheque.
Jim said “this grant has enabled us to purchase publicity materials which will enable us to go out in to the communities of Ceredigion and further recruit adult volunteers. Scouting relies on adult volunteers to allow us to provide Scouting for the young people. Adults can get as much from Scouting as the young people, it is possible to be part of the fun and adventure. Volunteers are not giving something up but are gaining the opportunity to develop and share skills such as leadership. Scouting has a well developed training scheme, run locally, which could be a step towards a new career.”
